Expertise

  • Improving how
    teams work

Making collaboration across design, development, and product clearer. Work on motion handoffs and AI Security workflows helped teams communicate and deliver with clearer routines.

  • Creating resources teams can put to work

Turning specialist knowledge into practical resources. Developer education, the IBM Persona Toolkit, and design-system tools made shared knowledge easier to access and use.

  • Designing complex product experiences

Turning complex requirements into usable product experiences. From AI Security risk-investigation workflows to reusable interaction patterns for IBM Products.

  • Giving organizational ideas a visual form

Making abstract ideas easier to see and communicate. Visual language for IBM's World-Class Product Organization and illustrations for Experience Standards clarified internal initiatives.

A little more about Tomer

I joined a design team that worked across IBM product's
business units, rather than being assigned to a single product. The team took on cross-organizational challenges, helping product teams improve design practices, develop shared resources, and tackle problems that reached beyond individual teams.

My manager encouraged me to spend 10–15% of my time looking for projects that interested me. I used that time to pursue problems I felt were worth solving. Over the years, that small part of my role grew into my main focus: finding opportunities, bringing people together, and creating things that could improve how teams work across the organization.

How I work

  1. 01

    Find something worth solving

Sometimes the challenge is handed to you. Sometimes you spot something that's been bothering people or holding them back. Either way, start by deciding what deserves attention.

  2. 02

    Understand what's really going on

Talk to people, examine what's already there, challenge assumptions, and work out what actually needs to change.

  3. 03

    Turn ideas into something real

Design the product experience, build the framework, develop the tool, or create the resource. Give the thinking a form people can use.

  4. 04

    See what happens. Adjust.

Put the work into the world, invite feedback, see what holds up, and learn what needs to happen next.

Not on my resume

  • A marker doodle drawn over a printed page: a wide-eyed face with wild curly hair and a Hebrew speech bubble.

    Doodling

One of my favorite experimental sides. My mind goes blank, my hand takes over, and I find out what I drew at about the same time you do.

  • My wife and me, a selfie under a blue sky.

    My best friend (and wife)

I still can't believe this person agreed to share a life with me. Together we made the two people in the next picture. Still our best project.

  • Me with my two kids at a lookout above a lake.

    Being a father

My kids remind me to slow down, ask more question, look at the world with awe and to care less about order. They're teaching me to be the father I always wanted.

  • The Hollow Oak, a 3D scene I built: an old oak with a glowing door under the moon, fireflies and a ring of glowing mushrooms.

    My lab

Where Claude and I turn the ideas that keep me up at night into real things: fantasy worlds, games, music, phone apps, videos, animations and hacked electric appliances.
